Originally from Chicago, Johnny Holiday received his vocal training from an opera singer beginning at age 11. During the 1940s, the singer with the rich baritone voice, performed with The Glenn Miller Air Force Band under Ray McKinley. In 1950 Holiday starred on his own radio show on NBC called Time to Dream and also did some acting having guest starred in the hit 1960s TV series The Untouchables. Holiday recorded for Capitol Records and toured Europe with the Count Basie All Stars Critics have hailed Holiday as a “singers singer” with “staying power” and for perpetuating the “Great American Songbook”.
